Frequently Asked Questions
Are the sceptics right?
No-one sees my teeth, why bother? My teeth are fine as they are! I'm not spending that on dentist. I hate going to the dentist! Why change my teeth now?
Heard these comments before? Well let's answer them
Bothwell Dental Care have been treating patients in Bothwell for 20 years so we think we know a little about dentistry. We hope that we can invite new and old patients to our practice and see what benefits we can bring to your life and provide that added confidence of a wonderful smile. As technology progresses and we invest in training at Bothwell Dental Care, people are spending more on their dental treatment and treating it as lifetime investment. However, for the sceptics let's answer some of these statements above and show how we can improve your future well being.
No-one sees my teeth why bother? My teeth are fine as they are!
How wrong! Everyone sees your teeth. When you smile, your teeth are the first thing people see and they'll soon notice if you have poor dental hygiene, missing or crooked teeth. Regular checkups and hygiene appointments prevent tooth decay and ensure you are receiving the treatment you need so your teeth last a life time.
I cannot justify spending a lot of money on my mouth.
We need to change the way people think about private dentists. Dental plans are an investment in your health for today and the future. We provide regular checkups, hygienist care, all with materials and treatments second to none which the NHS cannot provide. To top it off, we offer highly attractive discounts on dental treatments. People regularly spend money on luxuries and entertainment each month with little thought of cost, so why not invest a little a month on your future health and achieve a wonderful confident smile.
Why change my teeth now?
We all get to a stage when we would like to look younger and roll back the years. As we get older our teeth and our appearance is probably high on the agenda. Gums shrink, teeth move or dentures no longer fit. The crooked or missing teeth we have suffered for years, could all be permanently fixed with our care. Why not take the first step and make an appointment for a consultation and you will soon have something to smile about.
What impact does your smile have on your life?
A recent survey revealed that:
- Over 75% of people don’t feel confident to smile in a photograph.
- Over 45% of people make judgements about people by the look of their smile.
- Over 75% of people think that a beautiful smile helps people psychologically.
- Over 65% of people think that an attractive smile helps romantically.

Question: I'm approaching my 40th birthday and am not happy with my teeth. My teeth are pretty crooked; I hate them so much I actually hate smiling. I am in that age bracket where we didn't get offered braces as a child and would really like to get something done now. I don't want to live another 40 years with bad teeth. I’ve heard there are new invisible braces which produce great results in a few months.
We are glad you contacted us as we can fix your problem teeth and give you back that confident smile you’ve been looking for. There are several different types of braces on offer which we are happy to discuss with you.
Fixed braces are attached to the teeth and are made of stainless steel wires and brackets which apply a force to move the teeth to the new position. These are commonly called “train-tracks” because of their appearance. Fixed braces can be used with clear ceramic brackets which makes them less noticeable than conventional metal “train tracks”. These braces are adjusted by the dentist.
There are also invisible braces on offer.
Inman aligners - this is a new concept in removable braces and can work in around 3-4 months for suitable cases. Little, if any adjustment is required with this type of brace.
Invisalign Aligners - these are the ultimate in invisible braces. A series of clear, comfortable and removable plastic aligners are changed every 2 weeks at home. This means less frequent visits to the dentist for adjustments than traditional braces which are ideal for the patient with a busy lifestyle.
Please contact us for a consultation where we can discuss braces suitable to your lifestyle and needs.
