Why consider Facial Aesthetics Treatment ?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring complex sugar in your body that helps to provide volume, structure, elasticity and moisture to your skin. As you age you lose that natural hyaluronic acid. The bones, muscles and fat pads also change affecting your facial shape. This leads to the signs of ageing as seen by facial volume loss, reduced skin elasticity, folds and wrinkles.
Botulinum toxin can be used to treat dynamic (movement) lines and dermal filler can be used to replace lost volume.
What is Botulinum Toxin?
A drug produced from botulin, used medically to treat certain muscular conditions and cosmetically to remove wrinkles by temporarily paralysing facial muscles. Common brands include Botox, Azzalure and Dysport.
How does Botulinum Toxin work ?
Botulinum toxin blocks signals from the nerves to muscles.
The injected muscle can no longer contract, which causes the wrinkles to relax and soften.
It is most often used to treat forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet (the lines around the eyes).
Botulinum toxin takes between 3-14 days for effects to show and usually lasts 3-4 months.
Regular treatments can affect how long it lasts, meaning over time you may need fewer treatments to achieve the same effect.
Wrinkles caused by sun damage and gravity will not respond to botulinum toxin treatment and dermal filler may be advised.
What is Dermal Filler?
Dermal filler is an injectable product used to replace lost facial volume helping your skin look fresher and smoother and therefore presenting a younger appearance.
The most common filler products contain hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body. Common brands are Juvederm Smile, Ultra 4
How does Dermal Filler Work?
The smooth gel is injected into the tissues to fill the space of volume loss which improves folds and wrinkles and the product attracts water to replenish moisture to your skin.
The filler has a biological effect on your own hyaluronic acid, encouraging it to increase collagen and elastin production which improves skin integrity and quality.
It is most often used to improve the appearance of the lips by adding shape, definition and volume.
The effects typically last 4-6 months.
